Phenomenal success of the Samson Brewery: the best BOCK in the world and five other awards to go with it.

This year, Samson Brewery is celebrating spectacular success in the field of international tasting competitions! Samson BOCK beer was awarded as the best BOCK lager in the world at the World Beer Awards 2022 in London. Another four beers produced by Pivovar Samson also won in London, and the sixth award goes to the oldest Czech Budejovice brewery from neighboring Germany, specifically from the European Beer Star 2022 competition in Munich. Pivovar Samson is thus building on the successes of previous years.

Samson scores in London for the sixth time in a row!

In London, the Samson Brewery is well known from previous years, as it has been scoring points in the international competition since the entire production section underwent modernization, for the sixth time in a row. Samson lager eleven, Chachmelený lager and Samson BOCK followed up on their successes from previous years. Samson BOCK also triumphed again and, just like four years ago, won the global title of World’s Best Lager Bock.

Samson celebrates international success again – awards from London and Munich!

“We really appreciate the award for Samson BOCK. This type of beer originally comes from Germany, where it has a great tradition, and beating the German competition is of particular importance to us. BOCK beer has been brewed in our brewery before, and we found inspiration for our recipe in a 124-year-old book that our ancestors published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of our brewery. Even then, the beer was very popular among domestic and foreign customers,” says Daniel Dřevikovský, CEO of the Samson Brewery. In England, the brewery also shone with the latest addition to the Samson family, Cold Hopped Beer, which won a bronze medal in the Czech non-alcoholic beer category. The Samson lager also won bronze in the classic Czech lager category, and the Nachmelený lager won a silver medal in the hopped Czech lager category. Samson dark was awarded as the best Czech dark lager in the Country Winners category. From Munich, Bavaria, which is literally a beer metropolis, Samson takes home a bronze medal for its light tap ten.
“We are very happy. I am proud of the work of all our employees, who work every day so that the people of Budějčák can enjoy the fact that our beer is once again making a name for itself around the world, just like in the days of our predecessors. Our employees do their job with love, and this is certainly reflected in the quality of all the beers we produce,” adds Dřevikovský.

World-class awards and taste straight from the source

The World Beer Awards and the European Beer Star are internationally recognized prestigious tasting competitions that select the best beers in various categories. They belong to the absolute top of European beer competitions. The results of both competitions are decided by a professional jury, whose members from all over the world are experts in their field.
Almost all winning beers can now be enjoyed by the residents of České Budějovice in the newly opened summer brewery garden, which has grown directly on the brewery premises. The garden is reminiscent of a summer civic swimming pool from the 1930s. Visitors can enjoy traditional Czech snacks with their beer, such as pickled hermelín, utopenec, sausages or Olomouc cheeses, and on selected evenings there are also musical performances.
The biggest attraction, of course, is the fresh beer tapped directly from the Samson Brewery. "For example, unfiltered beer is poured into barrels in the morning and tapped in the afternoon. There is little that can compare to the taste of such a properly treated and fresh beer," says Radim Lavička, head brewer of the Samson Brewery. Unfiltered beer is now very popular with all visitors. With the end of summer and the closure of the brewery garden, people will be able to continue to enjoy unfiltered Samson beer at the Vatikán restaurant on Lannova Street in České Budějovice. The restaurant now also offers beers produced by the Samson Brewery.

Samson Brewery – a proud member of the AB InBev family

The Samson Brewery belongs to AB InBev, which is the world's largest beer producer. Other brands of this group include Stella Artois, Corona, Leffe and Beck's. Samson is the oldest brewery in České Budějovice, which it proudly emphasizes on its new labels. The consistently high quality of the Samson Brewery's production is proven by many awards from prestigious tasting competitions. Samson has not only repeatedly won top spots in its categories in London at the World Beer Awards, but it has also brought home awards from Australia (Australian International Beer Awards), Belgium (Brussels Beer Challenge) and the Pivo České republiky competitions, or from tastings by Czech beer experts within the First Beer Extra League.
