Samson scores another international success
After a year, the oldest brewery in České Budějovice, Samson, has achieved further international success. Among other things, Samson Bock, Dark Lager and Hop Lager have won significant awards. Visitors to the brewery can celebrate this not only on September 23, 2023, when popular festivities take place on its premises.
Samson scores again at the World Beer Awards!
Samson has already won a number of awards at the London World Beer Awards and is adding more this year. Four beers brewed in České Budějovice have been successful on the islands.
“This means a lot to us and we appreciate it very much. It is the result of the hard work of our entire team and the modernization of operations that has taken place in recent years,” says Samson director Daniel Dřevikovský.

Samson collects more medals at the prestigious World Beer Awards competition
The silver medal was won by Samson Bock, which won the global title of World’s Best Lager Bock last year. “We really appreciate the award for Samson Bock. This type of beer originally comes from Germany, where it has a great tradition. Bock beer has been brewed in our brewery before, and we found inspiration for our recipe in a 124-year-old book that our predecessors published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of our brewery. Even then, the beer was very popular among domestic and foreign customers,” describes the brewery’s brewer Radim Lavička.
Another silver medal was won by Samson Nachmelený ležák and bronze was won by Samson Světlý ležák 12. Samson Tmavý ležák was named the best dark lager in the Czech Republic.
The World Beer Awards is an internationally recognized prestigious tasting competition that selects the best beers in various categories. It belongs to the absolute top of European and world beer festivals. The results of both competitions are decided by a professional jury, whose members from all over the world are beer sommeliers and experts in their field.
The brewery's successes are a reason to celebrate. The ideal opportunity for this is September 23, 2023, when the brewery complex hosts the popular St. Wenceslas Festival. "We will offer what we brew in the brewery. The increasingly popular Unfiltered Lager and, of course, the already mentioned award-winning beers will be here, and for cyclists, Pito on tap. There will be no shortage of refreshments and, of course, food that goes with beer," invites the director.
